Cynthia D. McCreery has her undergrad in the History of Art from the University of Victoria (2005) and she graduated from the Expressive Arts Therapy program at Langara College in 2020. She completed her Expressive Arts Therapy practicum at the Delta Community Living Society with adults with developmental diversabilities.

Before becoming an Expressive Arts Therapist, Cynthia worked as an Administrator for various non-profit and arts organizations, including Skeena Watershed Conservation Coalition, YVR Art Program, YVR Art Foundation, Skeena Salmon Arts Fest, Misty Rivers Community Arts Council and Storytellers’ Foundation.

I often hear the question: “What did you want to be when you were a child?” The best answer I can come up with is a dancer. Movement and dancing have been where I discover myself again especially when the world around me feels overwhelming. Movement and dancing are also sometime difficult for me, and when that happens, I find my way into expression through writing or music. When I started the Expressive Arts Therapy program at Langara College, I discovered that Expressive Arts Therapy encompasses all that I am doing on my own – and more. Rarely are there things in life that feel absolutely right. For me, becoming an Expressive Arts Therapist is one of those things. This work feels like coming home.

Cynthia lives and works on unceded Gitxsan, Tsimshian, and Wet’suwet’en Territories.
