Lorraine Aston
Registered Dance/Movement Therapist, Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying), Master’s in Applied Sport PsychologyBiography
As a dance/movement therapist, I work with clients using a strength-based, collaborative, creative and embodied approach. Together, we focus on goals that are meaningful to you and on strengthening your mind and body’s capacity to cope, heal, adapt and flourish. Clients are often drawn to this work because they want to feel more at home in their bodies, draw upon creativity as a healing resource, and move more effectively towards their goals.
I support clients in their courageous work with kindness, empathy and an unwavering sense of hope. I draw upon current research and best practices in positive psychology, performance psychology, mind-body counselling and dance therapy. In our sessions, we may use a range of tools and activities, including music, props, drawing and storytelling.
I have facilitated dance therapy and dance wellness programs for children, adults, and seniors throughout Ottawa, including at the Royal Ottawa Mental Health Centre, the Ottawa Children’s Treatment Centre School (CHEO), Hopewell Eating Disorder Support Centre, Mood Disorders Ottawa, and Abbotsford House.
Please feel free to send me an email if you would like more information or would like to book a session.
