DIY Gender: An Expressive Arts Exploration

May 7, 2023 @ 2:00 pm 5:00 pm

This online workshop explores gender diversity through experiential arts, self-reflection and sharing. It is aimed towards those of all gender identities. We will explore our personal relationships with gender through visual art, writing, installations, play, and other expressive arts modalities. This will allow for a better understanding of the ways gender works in our lives, systemically, and the therapy space. It will also provide intermodal activities that may be useful for transgender or gender questioning clients.

Jasper is a queer expressive arts therapist, artist, performer, creator, dreamer, and community arts facilitator who uses his imagination to stir up creative things. He offers individual expressive arts therapy, groups and workshops. His living experiences inform his values: queerness, neurodivergence, sex work experience, and navigating mental health diagnoses. He works in the 2SLGBTQIA+ and other marginalized communities, largely with youth. He can be reached at: queerarttherapy.com

Jasper is a co-founder of Getting Bi+, an expressive arts therapy group for bi+ identified people, and Art of Masculine, an EXAT group that explores positive masculinities.

He is also co-founder of Queerscapes, a brand new queer and mad expressive arts community collective. The collective aspires to shake up individualist views on mental health, creating a community of care through the arts — utopian queerscapes for the here and now.
